Following our merger finalization we are very pleased to introduce you to our new Sqetch Partner giving individuals the power to design, print and sell their own custom fabrics, upholstery, wallpaper and more on the Spoonflower online platform. Learn more about how they implement sustainability through on-demand production, eco-friendly materials and nearshoring.
Who are you?
Spoonflower is the world’s first web-based service for custom, on-demand fabric, wallpaper, and home decor. And with over 1 million designs – with more added every day – the Spoonflower Marketplace is the largest collection of independent designers in the world.
What’s your mission?
Making it possible for individuals to design, print and sell their own fabric, wallpaper, and home decor, while always staying as eco-friendly as possible. Spoonflower’s digital printing process uses eco-friendly, water-based pigment inks and dyes which produce very little waste. Everyone can be a designer and creator with Spoonflower. Spoonflower also produces and ships all of it’s products from the US and Germany, bringing textile and sewing production back to markets it previously disappeared from.
Where are you located?
Our headquarters are in Durham, North Carolina, USA and we also have a production space and offices in Berlin, Neukölln, Germany since 2016.
How did you start and when?
Spoonflower was founded in May 2008 by two Internet geeks, Gart Davis and Stephen Fraser, whose creative wives asked why there wasn’t anywhere to design custom fabric for their home decor. The first company of its kind, Spoonflower was launched in Durham, N.C., USA on that dream of empowering the individual to create on-demand, custom-designed textiles.
What are your services/products?
Today, the Spoonflower community has grown to over 3.5 million individuals who use their own designs and our Marketplace to print their own fabrics and wallpapers to make curtains, quilts, clothes, bags, furniture, dolls, pillows, framed artwork, costumes, banners and much, much more. Since Autumn 2019, we also offer custom-made home decor, such as bedding, table cloths, napkins, curtains and more.
Who are your customers?
Our customers come from all over the world, from DIY-loving entrepreneurs to fashion designers using our services for printing custom fabrics for their labels as well as interior designers.
Who would you like to collaborate with?
Anyone who is in need of custom fabrics. We love to work with big fashion and fabric designer brands, but we also love supporting small businesses as well as interior decorators. Everyone who is interested in fabrics, wallpaper and home textiles can work with us.
What do you want to achieve in the future?
We want to make it possible for everyone to customise their world just as they want and to fuel creativity all over the world!
