The textile and clothing industry is facing the challenges of global, fragmented and predominantly linear value chains, with materials and products being often sourced long distance and <1 % of all textiles worldwide being recycled to new textile fibres. Speedboat-C is addressing these challenges and aims to support generating new circular and resilient business models for clothing designers, brands and manufacturers for more demand for European circular value chains which would create jobs and foster an economy that is in line with a 1.5 degree world.
The project’s main objective is to seamlessly interconnect the partner’s complementary knowledge, systems and databases, developing one holistic solution that would help the fashion industry to establish a new level of transparency, establish resilient, local and ultimately climate-neutral supply chains and to scale circular business models.
We are thrilled to share the features that have been developed within the Speedboat-C, which would enable fashion brands and manufacturers to advance circularity, increase transparency, evaluate and reduce carbon emissions by using regional value chains in Europe.
Circular Manufacturing Self Assessment and Online Training
With defining a set of Circular Manufacturing Guidelines, we aim to provide guidance to manufacturers that are striving to push the circularity further within their manufacturing processes.
Manufacturers can also take a Circular Manufacturing Self Assessment to evaluate their circular practices they are already adopting within their manufacturing facility. When the Self Assessment is passed successfully, manufacturers are eligible to be listed as Circular Service Providers in sqetch.co directory and prioritised in the search results.
A Circular Manufacturing Online Training is designed to help manufacturers to climb the circularity ladder.
Circular Material Combinator
Manufacturers and buyers can find each other to optimise the product’s circularity and sustainability. Leveraging the power of machine learning, the system recommends the most suitable materials.
Critical Path Tracker
The CO2 emissions calculator estimates the carbon footprint of manufactured items. Fashion brands are thus able to forecast their carbon footprint, optimize and design their supply chains to improve circularity.
circularity.id Product Lifecycle Dynamic Tracker
The circularity.ID Open Data Standard works with the product identifier to enable material‑specific recovery. Users can update the life cycle data, so to guide the product through the circular system in a sustainable way.
